Though voters are told to see Hillary Clinton as the “lesser of two evils,” Jill Stein said voting that way is the losing strategy. “Hillary Clinton is the problem, she is not the solution to Donald Trump,” Stein said Saturday in accepting the Green Party nomination at the party’s nominating convention in Houston, Texas. “We are the solution. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for.” In her acceptance speech, and like much of her campaigning, Stein painted her candidacy as the true heir to Bernie Sanders. She said with the backing of Sanders’ supporters. “It is such an honor to also being running in alliance with the Bernie Sanders movement, who I now hear call us ‘berning green.’ We are ‘berning green’ together,” Stein said. “We owe you such a debt of gratitude for lifting up this revolution that has been smoldering for decades. You broke through the media blackout, you lifted us up and you refused to be shut down by the DNC.” Stein previously blasted the Vermont senator for his decision to endorse Clinton in June.
