U.S. stocks were setting up for sharp losses when trading opens Wednesday, with Republican Donald Trump pulling off a major upset by winning the U.S. presidential race. Equity futures plunged as Trump claimed victories in several key battleground states, such as Florida and Ohio. After also winning Pennsylvania, the major TV networks early Wednesday morning called Trump as the winner in a bitterly contested race with his Democratic Party rival, Hillary Clinton, who conceded the election. But futures did move off their worst levels of the session as Wall Street’s open drew closer. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 301 points, or 1.6%, to 17,865. Earlier, they tumbled by 750 points.
