A St. Louis police sergeant was hospitalized in critical condition but expected to survive after being shot Sunday night in what the police chief called an “ambush.” Police Chief Sam Dotson said the 46-year-old officer was shot twice in the face. The male suspect was later killed in a shootout with police. In San Antonio, a veteran police officer in the Special Victims Unit was shot and killed before noon Sunday while performing a routine traffic stop near police headquarters downtown, prompting a citywide search for the gunman. And in Florida, a police officer was wounded during traffic stop. The suspect has been arrested.
