President-elect Donald Trump tweeted Saturday morning that having a “good relationship with Russia is a good thing,” adding that Russia will have far more respect for the U.S. when he is president. “Having a good relationship with Russia is a good thing, not a bad thing. When I am President, Russia will respect us far more than they do now and…. both countries will, perhaps, work together to solve some of the many great and pressing problems and issues of the WORLD!” Trump has repeatedly praised Russian President Vladimir Putin amid a recent rise in diplomatic tensions between the U.S. and Russia, and has repeatedly denied that Russia had any influence on the presidential election.
