Taking aim at what she called the root causes of French decline, the National Front leader argued that economic globalization — the force that has made Big Macs and iPhones ubiquitous around the world — and jihadism — blamed for terrorist attacks in France and elsewhere — were part of the same evil g-force undermining the French nation. It is only by rolling back the tide of globalization and forcefully reasserting French values and authority that France’s decline can be reversed, she argued in one of her most intense speeches to date.
