The White House on Tuesday rebuked a federal judge’s decision to block a Trump administration directive aimed at stripping funding from “sanctuary cities,” calling the court decision yet another case of “egregious overreach by a single, un-elected district judge.” San Francisco-based U.S. District Court Judge William Orrick blocked President Donald Trump’s administration from enforcing a portion of its Jan. 25 executive order that would halt federal funding to municipalities that did not uphold federal immigration laws. In a statement released Tuesday night by the press secretary’s office, the White House claimed the ruling undermined the American political system.
