President Trump said he had agreed to renegotiate rather than withdraw from the North American Free Trade Agreement with Mexico and Canada, a surprise announcement that came just hours after reports said he was considering an executive order to pull out of the trade pact. Renegotiating or withdrawing from NAFTA, a decades-old trade deal that Trump has described as a “disaster” and says hurts U.S. workers, was one of the president’s campaign pledges.
