A central Oregon organic farm and officials from Sherman County are locked in a dispute over enforcement of a weed ordinance that’s turned into a social-media firestorm. The farm says the county is threatening to issue a court order that would force it to spray fields with a herbicide. That would cost the farm its organic certification, which it has had for 18 years. They also say the county might do the spraying itself, and could put a lien on the farm forcing them to pay for the labor and chemicals used to eradicate the weeds.
