If Brady is hiding concussions to stay on the field, then imagine what players with less stature and security than him are doing. Once a player enters the league’s concussion protocol, he loses control when he is able to return to the field. That opens the way for his backup to make a strong impression on the coaches and take his job. Players need to be protected from themselves. If it’s up to them, they are always going to play. Most of the time it’s to protect their job and future contracts. They don’t worry about what’s going to be 10, 15, 20 years later.
